The BE@RBRICK Series 50 Masterpieces Revealed: A Full Preview

We've tried to identify the first 14 officially announced models for you and assigned them to the appropriate categories as best we could. Get ready to be amazed by the variety and richness of detail in this anniversary series!

Theme BASIC: Striking magenta sets a clear color accent

Right at the beginning, we're greeted by the BASIC character, who shines in a bright magenta color in this anniversary edition and proudly wears a striking yellow letter on his chest. As a cornerstone of every Bearbrick series, the "Basic" character represents a letter of the iconic name "BE@RBRICK" and always features a striking color—an absolute must-have for any serious collection. We think the color scheme is worthy of an anniversary edition, even if some may have hoped for more.

Theme JELLYBEAN: Ramune soft drink with glass marble in the bottle neck

Let's move on to the Jellybean character, who features an exciting design concept in this edition. This time, he presents himself as a translucent, bright blue Bearbrick, whose head is crowned by a light blue cap, while a small green dot shimmers mysteriously on his chest.

Now we can probably reveal the secret: This special Jellybean Bearbrick is modeled after the iconic Japanese soft drink Ramune! Ramune is famous for its unique Codd bottle, which is sealed with a glass marble in the neck. The light blue cap of the Bearbrick is unmistakably reminiscent of the Ramune bottle cap, and the small green dot could be a reference to the iconic glass marble that falls into the bottle when opened. The translucent blue of the Bearbrick also reflects the typically clear and often blue-tinted sodas of many Ramune varieties, which are especially popular in Japanese summers and at festivals. These clever details make the Bearbrick a charming homage to a piece of everyday Japanese culture, adding an extra layer of nostalgia and design.

Theme PATTERN: Pure nature with waterfall and forests!

Next up is the PATTERN type. This Bearbrick is completely covered with a detailed pattern of lush green forests and rushing waterfalls. The color palette ranges from deep forest green to light turquoise blue, creating an idyllic scenery. The "Pattern" type is always dedicated to complex and continuous designs, and this nature motif impressively demonstrates how the Bearbrick shape can be used as a versatile canvas—a true eye-catcher for nature lovers.

Theme FLAG: Indonesia or Monaco?

Next comes the FLAG edition. A classic Bearbrick, its upper body in bright red and its lower body in brilliant white, clearly divided by a precise horizontal line. The "Flag" type represents the colors of a national flag, and this red and white combination is iconic for the flags of Indonesia and Monaco. Without further clues, the exact nation remains a bit of a mystery, but the elegance of this simple representation is undeniable. We'll probably only be able to unravel the mystery upon examining the accompanying card.

Theme HORROR: M3GAN returns after Series 47

For all thrill seekers, there's the HORROR type: a detailed representation of the blonde, blue-eyed female character M3GAN in her signature blue outfit, staring at us with a serious, almost sinister gaze. The creepy yet instantly recognizable doll from the hit film "M3GAN" (2022) makes her Bearbrick reappearance here. The release aligns perfectly with the announced sequel "M3GAN 2.0," which will be released in June 2025. An absolute highlight for film fans and horror enthusiasts, licensed by Universal City Studios LLC.

Theme SF (Science Fiction): Death Stranding by Kojima Productions

The SF (science fiction) genre is also back: Here we have protagonist Sam Porter Bridges from the video game "Death Stranding" in his signature blue suit, complete with detailed gear and his unmistakable beard. The "SF" genre is dedicated to the greats of the genre, and Hideo Kojima's award-winning work finds its perfect realization here – a must-have for fans of the post-apocalyptic delivery adventure and connoisseurs of the gaming world, licensed by KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS CO., LTD. / HIDEO KOJIMA.

Theme ARTIST: Osamu Harada immortalizes himself in Bearbrick form

The first ARTIST type takes its place: a charming Bearbrick depicting a boy with bright blond hair, a friendly blue expression, and a stylish blue sweater with a white collar. This Bearbrick honors the work of renowned Japanese illustrator Osamu Harada, whose simple and heartwarming style has captivated generations. A piece of Japanese design history in Bearbrick form, licensed by OSAMU HARADA / KOJI HONPO.

Theme ANIMAL: Who doesn’t know the cute Monchhichis?

Here, it's clearly declared to be an ANIMAL type, specifically in the form of the incredibly cute Monchhichi! This model is a detailed representation of the iconic monkey doll, complete with brown fur pattern, friendly face, and the signature red bib with the Monchhichi logo. Monchhichi has been a beloved companion of many childhoods since 1974 and has also captured the hearts of Bearbrick collectors, having made its first appearance in Series 11 .

Theme Artist: Blossom from the Powerpuff Girls

Next up is another ARTIST type: a detailed replica of Blossom, the leader of the Powerpuff Girls, in her signature pink outfit, orange hair, and large, expressive eyes. Popular cartoon characters also find their place under the "Artist" type, often based on the design of the original creator. The Powerpuff Girls are iconic characters from the US Cartoon Network studio, and Blossom is ready to save your collection!

Theme ARTIST: HIDE - a real music Bearbrick

Another ARTIST type that will delight fans of Japanese rock music is the stylish Bearbrick depicting the legendary musician HIDE (Hideto Matsumoto of the band X JAPAN), with his signature pink hair, yellow and blue jacket, and rebellious expression. HIDE was not only a gifted guitarist but also a fashion icon whose influence is still felt today. A must-have for music lovers and fans of Japanese pop culture, licensed by HEADWAX ORGANIZATION CO., LTD. Sadly, HIDE passed away far too soon in 1998.

Theme CUTE: Furby in a completely new format

The next CUTE type is an adorable Bearbrick that faithfully replicates the popular interactive toy Furby , complete with its big blue eyes, yellow beak, and fluffy pink and white fur pattern. Furby was a global phenomenon and is a nostalgic symbol for many, whose endearing spirit is beautifully captured here. Licensed by Hasbro.

Theme HORROR: The final appearance of Squid Game

Next up, we're looking at another HORROR type (or ARTIST type?) with a striking character from one of the most successful series of recent years: a detailed depiction of the memorable Young-Hee from the Netflix hit series "Squid Game," including her new outfit from season 3. The character was already featured in series 44 with a different costume and is undoubtedly a global phenomenon. A must-have for all fans of the series, licensed by Netflix.

Theme ARTIST: Monokuma from the video game series Dananronpa

With "Monokuma," we experience a unique Bearbrick, vertically divided into a black and a white half, with a menacing red eye on the black side and a stylized star pattern on the chest. This Bearbrick represents the iconic character Monokuma from the popular video game series "Danganronpa," known for his twisted humor. The design is by Amok and features a patchwork style.

Theme ARTIST: A patchwork teddy bear in pastel shades

Another ARTIST type (or is that more CUTE?) comes in the form of a heartwarming Bearbrick, whose surface is modeled after a patchwork teddy bear. It features various pastel colors like green, yellow, brown, and pink, complemented by mock seams and a small pink heart on the chest. The design, which is simply adorable, exudes nostalgia and warmth and is a loving addition to any collection. For us, this model is our absolute favorite from Series 50! This Bearbrick was probably also licensed by Amok.

The mystery of the Secrets remains!

As with every Bearbrick series, Medicom Toy remains true to its reputation with Series 50 and keeps the excitement alive: Of course, the mysterious Secret Models will be back! These will be produced in significantly smaller quantities and will only be revealed after the official release, when the unboxing begins. They can be surprising variations of existing figures or completely new, unannounced collaborations. The hunt for these rare and often coveted Secrets is part of the special appeal of collecting and makes every blind box opening a little adventure!

Nevertheless, we have made assumptions about which Bearbricks might be included in Series 50 as SECRET variants:

• Osamu Harada: The boy depicted above ("John") could be joined by "Jill" as a female counterpart
• Powerpuff Girls: Now that Blossom is already represented, the trio could be completed by Bubbles and Buttercup .
• Furby : Well, there are certainly countless variants that could also be included as SECRET variants
• Squid Game: In our opinion, a hot candidate would be the male counterpart to Young-Hee , namely Chul-Su .
