BE@RBRICK BAPE Play Camo Series 1 (2003)

The BAPE Play Camo Series 1, launched in 2003, marks a historic milestone: the first blind-box collection from the legendary partnership between A Bathing Ape and Medicom Toy. This groundbreaking series showcases BAPE's iconic 1ST CAMO pattern in seven distinct colorways—from classic yellow-green, maritime blue, soft pink, mystical purple, and monochromatic black to vibrant red and nature-inspired green. Each variation tells its own visual story while preserving the DNA of BAPE's signature pattern.

The revolutionary blind-box concept sparked a huge collecting frenzy in 2003: packaged in identical boxes, no one knew which of the seven color variations was hidden inside. This strategy established a model that would have a lasting impact on the designer toy scene. Each of the seven 7 cm Bearbricks features the distinctive 1ST CAMO pattern, which founder Nigo established as the heart of his brand in 1993. The organic, cloud-like teardrop shapes combine military camouflage aesthetics with Japanese kawaii culture, creating a visual statement that remains one of the most iconic designs in streetwear history.
