"You Only Live Twice" from 1967 marked Sean Connery's final appearance as Agent 007 and introduced the face of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, played by Donald Pleasence—the arch-enemy who became a legend with his signature scar and white cat.
The film revolutionized the spy genre with its breathtaking volcanic fortress, one of the most spectacular film sets of all time, costing a million dollars to build. In this dramatic setting, Blofeld's diabolical plan to plunge the US and the Soviet Union into nuclear war unfolded, while Bond disguised himself as a Japanese man and fought alongside ninjas. The screenplay was written by none other than Roald Dahl, giving the film its unique blend of fantasy and suspense.
