Product description

Pop art history you can touch: This monumental Bearbrick transforms Andy Warhol's legendary "Marilyn Diptych" from 1962 into a three-dimensional work of art of the highest order. At an impressive 70 centimeters tall, this collectible is the ultimate homage to one of the most influential icons in both art history and pop culture. Warhol's "Twenty-Five Colored Marilyns"—the initial motif for this extraordinary collaboration—was created immediately after Marilyn Monroe's tragic death in August 1962 and is now considered the "third most influential modern work of art" of all time.

The ingenious hydro-dipping technique ensures that each Bearbrick is unique. The signature pop art motif, with its bright blue facial features, striking golden-yellow hair, and vibrant magenta background, is transferred to the Bearbrick mold using this special process, ensuring the placement of each Marilyn portrait is unique on each piece. This individuality makes each Bearbrick a personal work of art, offering a fascinating reinterpretation of Warhol's philosophical approach to mechanical reproduction.

The art-historical significance of this model is particularly remarkable: It is based on the famous press photo by Frank Powolny from the 1953 film "Niagara," which Warhol made a symbol of his critique of consumer culture and the media world. The repetition of Marilyn Monroe's face already addressed the transience of fame and the power of mass media—topics that are more relevant today than ever. Officially licensed by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and the Estate of Marilyn Monroe LLC, this Bearbrick is not just a collector's item, but a piece of certified art history for your home.

What packaging does this Bearbrick come in?

This Bearbrick comes in the official original Medicom Toy packaging (see specifications). This is often a collector's item in its own right and important for preserving the model's value. We take care to ensure secure packaging for shipping to prevent damage during transport.

What material is this Bearbrick made of and how do I best care for it?

Most Bearbricks are made of high-quality plastic (ABS plastic), unless otherwise stated in the specifications. For maintenance, we recommend gently dusting the figure regularly with a soft, dry cloth. On chrome versions, fingerprints should be avoided; cloth gloves may be helpful here. How does the quality and mobility of this model differ from other sizes?

Medicom Toy's production quality is very high across all sizes. Larger models (400% or 1000%) often offer more space for detailed designs. However, the joints vary depending on the size: In larger models (400% and 1000%), the arms and legs usually rotate in a single plane. Smaller Bearbricks (especially 100% and 200%) often have ball joints, allowing for more flexible movement of the limbs.
