With this enchanting Bearbrick, you can bring an icon of Japanese pop culture into your home – in perhaps its cutest interpretation. Astro Boy, originally called Tetsuwan Atomu, is the groundbreaking creation of Osamu Tezuka, the legendary "God of Manga." Since his first appearance in 1952, the little robot boy with a big heart has delighted generations and is considered one of the most important characters in manga and anime history. The first anime adaptation in 1963 revolutionized the Japanese animation industry and laid the foundation for the worldwide anime culture we know today.
This Sleeping version depicts the otherwise heroic robot in a rare moment of tranquility. With closed eyes and a peaceful expression, Astro Boy is enjoying a well-deserved break from his adventures. The characteristic design is lovingly rendered: the head features the iconic black hairstyle with its two distinctive spikes and light gray ears. The face displays soft black eyelashes and a relaxed expression that radiates pure serenity. On the chest is the famous motif of the open hatch revealing technical details and the red heart – the emotional center that distinguishes Astro Boy from other robots.
The color scheme follows the character's classic outfit: a flesh-colored torso paired with turquoise shorts featuring white accents and a black hem, while bright red boots dominate the figure's lower half. This color combination has made Astro Boy instantly recognizable for decades. Measuring 7 cm and 28 cm in height, the set embodies not only a piece of anime history but also Tezuka's philosophy: technology and humanity need not be mutually exclusive. For collectors, this official Tezuka Productions licensed figure is an absolute must-have.
