Wenn traditionelle japanische Holzbaukunst auf urbane Designsprache trifft, entsteht ein Objekt von seltener Aura: Dieses Modell vereint die Handwerkskunst des renommierten japanischen Möbelherstellers Karimoku mit der reduzierten Formensprache von fragmentdesign, dem Label des einflussreichen Kreativen Hiroshi Fujiwara. Als Produkt zur MEDICOM TOY EXHIBITION '19 reiht es sich in die Polygon-Linie der hölzernen Karimoku-Editionen ein und interpretiert die vertraute Bärensilhouette völlig neu – als skulpturales Sammlerstück, das ebenso sehr Kunstobjekt wie Spielzeug-Ikone ist.

Der Körper ist vollständig aus Holz gefertigt und in einer facettierten Polygon-Optik gearbeitet, die der sonst weichen Rundung kantige, kristalline Flächen verleiht. Das Chess-Motiv setzt sich aus einem Schachbrettmuster gegensätzlicher Holztöne zusammen: Helle, warm-goldene Segmente wechseln sich mit dunklen, nussbraunen Feldern ab und ziehen sich über Kopf, Ohren, Bauch, Arme und Beine. Jedes Feld zeigt die natürliche Maserung des Holzes, wodurch kein Bär dem anderen gleicht. Das matte Finish unterstreicht die haptische, handwerkliche Anmutung und lässt die Struktur des Materials in den Vordergrund treten.

Das Set kommt als Single im großen 400%-Format mit rund 28 cm Höhe – eine imposante Präsenz, die die polygonale Gestaltung und den Kontrast der Holztöne besonders zur Geltung bringt. Jedes Stück wird von erfahrenen Kunsthandwerkern in Handarbeit gefertigt, und die Auflage ist streng limitiert und wurde nach Erreichen der festgelegten Stückzahl beendet.
