BE@RBRICK Series 14 Artist "Uotake Poetry" (100%)

With Series 14, Medicom Toy released another round of the popular blind box Bearbricks in 2007, and this model stands out in the Artist category: instead of graphics, patterns or a character, the written word takes centre stage here. The iconic bear silhouette becomes a canvas for poetry and connects with Japanese writing culture.

The body comes in a calm cream white that draws all attention to the deep black characters. In two vertical lines, read in the classic way from top to bottom and from right to left, the Japanese verse runs from the head across the chest and belly all the way down to the leg. Roughly translated, it reads: “You, the future one minute from now, I'm coming right away, so clear the way for me.” The confident, almost defiant message is all the more striking thanks to the bold, brush-like typography. Because the lettering deliberately runs across joints and curves, the result is a unified, complete work of art rather than a merely printed object.

As a single figure in the classic 100% format, standing around 7 cm tall, the Bearbrick has the typical features: a movable head, movable arms and legs, and the distinctive, angular design language. Originally released in Series 14 blind boxes, the model is now mainly found on the collector market and is an exciting addition for anyone who wants to complete their collection with early Artist editions.

With its pared-back colour scheme, the Bearbrick fits effortlessly into minimalist interiors and adds a thoughtful accent to your desk, shelf or display cabinet. As a gift, it is particularly suited to people who love Japan, calligraphy or poetry, and to anyone who wants a daily dose of fresh-start spirit before their eyes.
