The Flag category is one of the most emblematic themes in the Bearbrick world, transforming national symbols into three-dimensional collectibles. Since the early series, Medicom Toy has celebrated the diversity of global identities with these figures, turning flags into wearable works of art. Each Flag figure is more than mere decoration—it's a statement, a symbol of patriotism, and cultural pride in compact form. The Flag Bearbricks from Series 27, released in December 2013, continue this international tradition.
This Belgium version presents the Belgian tricolor in its classic vertical arrangement – black, yellow, and red. The three colors are precisely applied across the entire figure: the left ear, left arm, and left leg are deep black, the central area bright yellow, and the right side a vibrant red. This symmetrical color division follows the design of the Belgian national flag exactly, which has represented the Kingdom of Belgium since 1831. The colors themselves have historical roots: black, yellow, and red were the colors of the coat of arms of the Dukes of Brabant and became a symbol of national identity during the Belgian Revolution of 1830.
Belgium may be small, but culturally it's a giant – home to chocolate, beer, comics, Art Nouveau architecture, and the surrealist painter René Magritte.
