Product description

This Bearbrick brings the fascinating world of Japanese sofubi art to you in a compact form. Japanese artist Shoko Nakazawa has left a lasting mark on the designer toy scene with her creature Byron, a cute salamander monster, and is now one of the most sought-after contemporary artists in the field of vinyl figures. For Series 32 from 2016, Medicom Toy was privileged to transfer her signature creation to the iconic Bearbrick format. The result is an exceptional artist edition that perfectly captures Nakazawa's unmistakable style and is one of the most coveted pieces in the series.

The design of this Bearbrick is deliberately minimalist yet poetic. The transparent body with its milky white finish is reminiscent of frosted glass, giving the figure an ethereal quality. The translucent material reveals subtle details inside the figure, while the white graphics on the torso hint at Byron's characteristic anatomy. The simple face with its small black eyes and delicate smile exudes that mixture of cuteness and slight melancholy that makes Nakazawa's work so special. The gray ears and the subtle light blue lettering on the head add subtle color accents.

Shoko Nakazawa, who initially worked as a graphic designer and illustrator, has dedicated herself to creating Sofubi monsters for years. Her most famous character, Byron, is inspired by Japanese giant salamanders and symbolizes the desire for coexistence with nature. This ecological message is reflected in the transparent, pure aesthetic of this Bearbrick version. Nakazawa, who works under the Koraters label and collaborates with Kaikai Kiki Gallery, has built an international fan base with Byron and regularly collaborates with brands such as Beams and Instinctoy.

As part of the limited-edition Artist category, this Bearbrick represents not only a collectible but also a piece of contemporary Japanese toy art culture. Its delicate, almost ghostly appearance makes it an eye-catcher, embodying Nakazawa's poetic vision of monsters as gentle creatures of nature.

Is this Bearbrick already pre-assembled?

Yes, all Bearbricks available at MyBearBrick.de are delivered fully assembled by the manufacturer Medicom Toy and are ready to display. So there's no risk of damaging the model.

What packaging does this Bearbrick come in?

This Bearbrick comes in the official original Medicom Toy packaging (see specifications). This is often a collector's item in its own right and important for preserving the model's value. We take care to ensure secure packaging for shipping to prevent damage during transport.

What material is this Bearbrick made of and how do I best care for it?

Most Bearbricks are made of high-quality plastic (ABS plastic), unless otherwise stated in the specifications. For maintenance, we recommend gently dusting the figure regularly with a soft, dry cloth. On chrome versions, fingerprints should be avoided; cloth gloves may be helpful here. Direct sunlight and high humidity should be avoided to protect the colors and material over time and ensure long-term value retention.

How quickly will my order be shipped and how long will delivery take?

Orders received by 2:00 pm on working days (Saturday by 11:00 am) ship the same day – within Germany with Deutsche Post DHL, abroad with DHL or UPS. Delivery within Germany usually takes 1 to 2 working days; with UPS Express Saver, delivery is on the next working day. Deliveries to other EU countries, Sweden, the United Kingdom or Switzerland usually take 3 to 5 working days. You always receive a tracking number so you can check the status of your delivery at any time.

How much are the shipping costs for this Bearbrick?

We offer free shipping within the European Union for orders over €75. For orders below this amount, we charge a flat shipping fee of €4.90 for deliveries within Germany and €7.90 for other EU countries. For UK customers, the shipping fee is GBP 10.00 with a minimum order value of GBP 140.00. We cover all customs duties and import taxes for you. For orders to Switzerland we charge a flat shipping rate of CHF 10.00; the minimum order value is CHF 75.00, and here too we cover all customs duties and import fees for you.

How does the quality and mobility of this model differ from other sizes?

Medicom Toy's production quality is very high across all sizes. Larger models (400% or 1000%) often offer more space for detailed designs. However, the joints vary depending on the size: In larger models (400% and 1000%), the arms and legs usually rotate in a single plane. Smaller Bearbricks (especially 100% and 200%) often have ball joints, allowing for more flexible movement of the limbs.
