Ultraman – the silver giant emerging from the nebula M78 – has been one of the most influential icons of Japanese popular culture since 1966. Created by Eiji Tsuburaya and subsequently developed by Tsuburaya Productions, the Ultra Series continues to thrill generations of fans with its epic battles between powerful heroes and colossal kaiju monsters. In 2022, the franchise celebrated its 55th anniversary with a spectacular film: "Shin Ultraman," directed by Shinji Higuchi, written and produced by Hideaki Anno – known as the creator of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and co-creator of "Shin Godzilla." A collaboration between Tsuburaya Productions, Toho, and Khara, the film re-examines the origins of the Ultraman mythos, closely adhering to Tohl Narita's original design concepts from the franchise's inception.

The most striking feature of the Shin design is the deliberate omission of the iconic Color Timer, that red flashing signal on the chest that gives the classic Ultraman its characteristic urgency. Instead, angular, angular red lines define the silhouette of the silver giant, lending it a more archaic, purist appearance – a return to Narita's earliest concept designs. Medicom Toy has masterfully translated this design language into the Hero format of the Bearbrick Series 44.

The Bearbrick itself is entirely finished in an intense chrome hue: head, torso, and arms gleam in deep mirror silver, while the suit's signature color panels are rendered in metallic chrome red. Striking, downward-pointing chevron patterns on the legs, along with the angular red lines on the shoulders and torso, directly echo the film's angular shapes. The only contrasting color is provided by bright yellow, oval eyes, which create a hypnotic accent against the otherwise uniformly metallic appearance.

Originating from Blind Box Series 44 (2022), this Bearbrick is no longer available through regular retail channels – a fact that makes it equally desirable for Tokusatsu fans, Ultraman collectors, and Medicom toy enthusiasts.
