When Aki Maita and Akihiro Yokoi launched the first Tamagotchi in 1996, they revolutionized the toy world forever. The egg-shaped virtual pet from Bandai became a global phenomenon, selling over 40 million units worldwide in its first year alone. Now, this 90s icon is receiving well-deserved recognition as an exclusive collector's item at the major Tamagotchi exhibition at the Roppongi Museum in Tokyo.

The design of this Bearbrick is a loving homage to the iconic design of the original Tamagotchi device. The head, in characteristic sky blue, mimics the classic casing with its jagged yellow screen frame, stylized clock numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9, and three yellow control buttons below the display. The transparent ears peek through the design, adding a typical Bearbrick touch. The body is a colorful collage of numerous Tamagotchi characters: from Mametchi and Kuchipatchi to Mimitchi and many other popular figures, the pixelated creatures frolic in a vibrant jumble on the torso, arms, and legs.
