Product description

This Bearbrick brings one of the most legendary and unusual episodes in Smurfs history into the collector's room. The design is based on the 1981 Hanna-Barbera episode "The Purple Smurfs," which in turn is based on Peyo's 1959 comic story "Les Schtroumpfs noirs." This story is considered one of the first zombie apocalypse narratives in popular culture and appeared nine years before George A. Romero's groundbreaking film "Night of the Living Dead."

The all-over print depicts a chaotic scene with blue and purple Smurfs against a bright yellow background with green forest accents. The story behind it is as fascinating as it is eerie: A Smurf is bitten by a purple fly, turns purple, and loses the ability to communicate normally. Instead, he hops through the forest, shouting only "Gnap!" The epidemic spreads rapidly through the Smurf village via bites. Papa Smurf eventually finds the cure in the form of magnolia pollen, which transforms the infected Smurfs back to normal through violent sneezing.

The Bearbrick features both the iconic blue Smurfs in their white trousers and red pointed hats, as well as their transformed purple counterparts with their menacing violet bodies. The "THE SMURFS" logo is prominently displayed on the chest. This Bearbrick blends childhood memories with a touch of dark comic book history while paying tribute to the legacy of Belgian artist Peyo, who created the Smurfs in the magazine Spirou in 1958.

For collectors of designer toys, this set is particularly valuable, as it reveals a deeper, almost forgotten facet of the Smurf mythology that goes far beyond the cheerful surface and is culturally and historically significant.

Is this Bearbrick already pre-assembled?

Yes, all Bearbricks available at MyBearBrick.de are delivered fully assembled by the manufacturer Medicom Toy and are ready to display. So there's no risk of damaging the model.

What packaging does this Bearbrick come in?

This Bearbrick comes in the official original Medicom Toy packaging (see specifications). This is often a collector's item in its own right and important for preserving the model's value. We take care to ensure secure packaging for shipping to prevent damage during transport.

What material is this Bearbrick made of and how do I best care for it?

Most Bearbricks are made of high-quality plastic (ABS plastic), unless otherwise stated in the specifications. For maintenance, we recommend gently dusting the figure regularly with a soft, dry cloth. On chrome versions, fingerprints should be avoided; cloth gloves may be helpful here. Direct sunlight and high humidity should be avoided to protect the colors and material over time and ensure long-term value retention.

How quickly will my order be shipped and how long will delivery take?

Orders received by 2:00 PM on weekdays (11:00 AM on Saturdays) will be shipped the same day via DHL. Delivery within Germany typically takes 1 to 2 business days. Deliveries to other EU countries or Switzerland typically take 2 to 4 business days. You will always receive a tracking number so you can check the status of your delivery at any time.

How much are the shipping costs for this Bearbrick?

We offer free shipping within the European Union for orders over €75. For orders below this amount, we charge a flat shipping fee of €4.90 for deliveries within Germany and €7.90 for other EU countries. Simply contact us by phone, email, or chat, and we'll send you a prepaid DHL return label. Will I receive a certificate of authenticity for this Bearbrick?

For all Bearbricks 200% and larger (including 100%+400% sets), we at Zaiser Art Gallery issue an additional Certificate of Authenticity for your records. This underscores our commitment and conviction to offering only genuine Medicom Toy products.

How does the quality and mobility of this model differ from other sizes?

Medicom Toy's production quality is very high across all sizes. Larger models (400% or 1000%) often offer more space for detailed designs. However, the joints vary depending on the size: In larger models (400% and 1000%), the arms and legs usually rotate in a single plane. Smaller Bearbricks (especially 100% and 200%) often have ball joints, allowing for more flexible movement of the limbs.
