Product description

Jean-Michel Basquiat is considered one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. A self-taught artist, he began creating graffiti on the streets of New York in the late 1970s under the pseudonym SAMO, before quickly conquering the international art world. His works explore themes such as identity, racism, colonialism, and anatomy – always with a raw, immediate energy that has lost none of its impact to this day. With the seventh edition of the Basquiat series, Medicom Toy continues its hugely successful collaboration, once again transferring the artist's unmistakable visual language onto the iconic Bearbrick silhouette.

The design of this BE@RBRICK Jean-Michel Basquiat #7 (100%+400%) is characterized by a deep, almost nocturnal blue base, on which Basquiat's characteristic motifs are layered. Sketchy faces with empty eye sockets, crowned heads, and anatomical fragments cover the entire body of the figure. Recurring inscriptions such as "NERO," the Roman numeral "MCMLXVIII," and anatomical terms like "TORSO," "SKULL," "EAR," and "KNEE" are clearly recognizable – typical elements from Basquiat's vocabulary, with which he built layers of meaning in his paintings. Colored accents in light blue, pink, red, yellow, and white punctuate the dark composition like nervous brushstrokes, lending the figure a vibrant dynamism. The iconic trident crown, Basquiat's most famous signature, appears multiple times on the Bearbrick – including prominently on the back alongside the inscription "JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT."

The set consists of two figures: a 100% version approximately 7 cm tall and a 400% version approximately 28 cm tall. Both figures feature the identical all-over print design, with the larger version bringing out the details of Basquiat's visual world much more plastically. The Basquiat series is one of the most sought-after collaborations in the entire Bearbrick universe, and every new edition is eagerly awaited by collectors worldwide. The continuous numbering in particular emphasizes the serial nature and makes each edition a unique collector's item with a connection to different phases of the artist's work.

Whether as a statement piece in the living room, the centerpiece of an art collection, or a gift for Basquiat fans – this model uniquely combines street art heritage with the collector culture of designer toys. The consistently high demand for Basquiat Bearbricks and their limited availability make this set an investment that goes far beyond its decorative value.

Is this Bearbrick already pre-assembled?

Yes, all Bearbricks available at MyBearBrick.de are delivered fully assembled by the manufacturer Medicom Toy and are ready to display. So there's no risk of damaging the model.

What packaging does this Bearbrick come in?

This Bearbrick comes in the official original Medicom Toy packaging (see specifications). This is often a collector's item in its own right and important for preserving the model's value. We take care to ensure secure packaging for shipping to prevent damage during transport.

What material is this Bearbrick made of and how do I best care for it?

Most Bearbricks are made of high-quality plastic (ABS plastic), unless otherwise stated in the specifications. For maintenance, we recommend gently dusting the figure regularly with a soft, dry cloth. On chrome versions, fingerprints should be avoided; cloth gloves may be helpful here. Direct sunlight and high humidity should be avoided to protect the colors and material over time and ensure long-term value retention.

How quickly will my order be shipped and how long will delivery take?

Orders received by 2:00 PM on weekdays (11:00 AM on Saturdays) will be shipped the same day via DHL. Delivery within Germany typically takes 1 to 2 business days. Deliveries to other EU countries or Switzerland typically take 2 to 4 business days. You will always receive a tracking number so you can check the status of your delivery at any time.

How much are the shipping costs for this Bearbrick?

We offer free shipping within the European Union for orders over €75. For orders below this amount, we charge a flat shipping fee of €4.90 for deliveries within Germany and €7.90 for other EU countries. For customers in Switzerland or UK, the shipping fee is CHF 10.00 or GBP 10.00 respectively, with a minimum order value of CHF 75 or GBP 75. We cover all customs duties and import taxes for you.

What payment options do I have?

At MyBearBrick.de you can pay securely and conveniently using various payment methods, including PayPal, Klarna (purchase on account), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, American Express).

What happens if I don't like the Bearbrick or it arrives damaged?

Your satisfaction is important to us. If, contrary to expectations, you don't like a Bearbrick or it's damaged, you have a 30-day free return policy. Simply contact us by phone, email, or chat, and we'll send you a prepaid DHL return label. Once we receive your return, we'll, of course, refund the full purchase price, including any shipping costs.

Will I receive a certificate of authenticity for this Bearbrick?

For all Bearbricks 200% and larger (including 100%+400% sets), we at Zaiser Art Gallery issue an additional Certificate of Authenticity for your records. This underscores our commitment and conviction to offering only genuine Medicom Toy products.

How does the quality and mobility of this model differ from other sizes?

Medicom Toy's production quality is very high across all sizes. Larger models (400% or 1000%) often offer more space for detailed designs. However, the joints vary depending on the size: In larger models (400% and 1000%), the arms and legs usually rotate in a single plane. Smaller Bearbricks (especially 100% and 200%) often have ball joints, allowing for more flexible movement of the limbs.
